Kirby & Cheryl Back – Embroidery & Sewing
From Cheryl –
“As long as I can remember, my grandmother was always sewing on a quilt by hand. I believe my love for fabric comes from watching her put together all those pieces of colorful fabric and turn it into a beautiful quilt. She never did use the sewing machine. I am fortunate in having some of her quilts which I cherish so much . I have been sewing and crafting since I was a very young girl and thoroughly enjoy it. I was always teaching my daughter crafts and how to sew and then when she had her daughters, we taught them how to sew and craft. Whenever I could, I would always buy some new fabric, I believe you can never have too much fabric.
My parents moved up here to North Carolina in 2010 and I came to visit them each year and love the mountains, country life and the beautiful views. I would try to stay a little longer each time I came up.
Well about 10 years later along came Kirby. He bought me my first sewing/embroidery machine, so I learned that machine and Kirby mastered the embroidery part and little did I know he would enjoy embroidering as much as me. So together we sew and embroider zippered pouches (which is how we came up with the name, stick it in your pouch), purses, coasters, baskets, bottle bags, coin purses, embroidered framed pictures, embroidered shirts, etc.
Four years ago, we moved up here in North Carolina and love it. It is so nice to have a hobby we can do together. We have also learned canning and gardening which has been so much fun. Kirby has also learned he is quite the baker and the nice thing is I get to help and see my parents so much more.”
We are thrilled to have Kirby and Cheryl in our co-op, and know you will enjoy their creative embroidery!
